In part 5 of our All About Google Classroom Series, we are going to be covering the Grades Section of Google Classroom. We are going to discuss how to navigate the Grades Section and some of its key features!
When you get to the grades section, you will a list of your students on the left-hand side. Clicking on a student’s name will open a new tab. In this tab, you will be able to see the student’s overall score, all of their assignments, and the scores they received on them. On the let-hand side, you will see 4 sections: All, Turned In, Returned, and Missing. Clicking on one of these will filter and just show you, for example, all of the assignments that are missing if you clicked on Missing.
As you move left to right, you will first see the overall grade the student has by percentage. Then toward the top, you will see all of the assignments that you have posted in Google Classroom. You will be able to see the due date, the name of the assignment, and how many points it was out of. If you hover an assignment’s name you will see three vertical dots. Clicking on them will give you three options: Edit, delete, and Return All. Clicking on edit will allow you to edit the assignment. Clicking on Return All will return all graded assignments that have not been returned. Clicking on delete will delete the assignment.
As you look at each student’s row in each assignment column, you will see the score the student received if you have already graded it. If it is not graded, the box will be blank. You can give them a grade right here from the grades tab by clicking on their box and typing in the score. You will notice that as you hover of a student’s box in an assignment column, you will see three vertical dots appear. Clicking on that you will be greeted with two options: Return or View Submission. Clicking return will return the assignment to the student allowing them to see their score. You can also visually tell if an assignment needs to be returned because the student’s score will be in green. Returned scores are gray. Clicking on View Submission will take you to the student’s work they submitted for this assignment. From there you will be able view the student’s work, provide feedback, and also give a student a grade from their assignment page.
That It! That does it for the Grades Section of Google Classroom. In our next post, we will be diving into the Setting Section of Google Classroom.
